Is there a link between self-care and intuition?

What is self-care? Self-care habits are those daily things you do which uplift your heart, mind, body and spirit. A self-care habit can be as simple as choosing to go to be earlier, consciously drinking more water or scheduling a manicure. Self-care is also about creating daily habits which can help you build up the courage to ask for what you truly need and want in all areas of your life.

The power of self-care goes deep into the heart of the way choose to your run your business, your life and your overall wellness. It’s the details of your life that create your path mindfully and with presence, each and every day.

So where’s the link? 

Intuition and self-care go hand in hand. By creating daily self-care rituals, you begin to clear away old patterns, inner blocks and fears that tell you “there’s not enough time” or “you can’t afford it” or “you have more important things to do”.

By implementing self-care you teach everyone around you how to treat you. If you don’t put yourself first, why would anyone else?  

Sometimes the self-care habit comes in baby-steps by simply giving you the strength to say no to someone or something you’d rather not do. When you practice self-care, you are telling the Universe that you are listening and you are ready to put yourself first. Just like the airline directive of putting your own oxygen mask on before helping others, self-care gives you what you need so that you have enough to give to your clients, friends and family.

These daily habits of self-care help you to tune in to those nudges of intuition. By listening to your intuition, even when it’s a whisper, you will begin to learn what you need most from moment to moment and from day to day. The more you listen, the louder the nudges will get. The easier it will be for you to recognize what each situation calls for in terms of your needs and the needs of others.

So how do you do it?

For me, intuition has been a lifetime partner an trusted friend and advisor. From making the decision to sell everything and move across country on my own, to dealing with the unexpected death of my father, to navigating scary health challenges, I have counted on my intuition to make choices when others around me thought I was crazy.

Throughout the years, I have noticed times when my intuition has gone quiet and other times when it was practically like a little angel sitting on my shoulder telling my which way to go. The trick is to figure out how to listen.

Listening begins with creating space to tune in on a daily basis.
