I’ve been following this dynamic, gorgeous and talented internet superstar for a while now. When I first landed on her page I was instantly smitten with this authentic goddess for the message of loving yourself and kicking ass in business. So when I reached out and asked Star to join my interview series and she said yes, I was totally giddy. Not only because I’m a huge fan of her style and wit, but I KNOW her message, her branding and her divine presence are a huge gift of inspiration to us all.
I hope you enjoy meeting Star and learning from her hard-earned brilliant insights on the importance of Divine Self-Care from
this amazing woman from across the pond.
Q – What does Self-Care mean to you?
Self-care is the ultimate loving gift to yourself; it’s taking the time every day to be grateful to be you. As a former skincare formulator and facialist, my self-care regime are focussed on luxurious organic pampering. I love to enjoy caring for this body I’ve been gifted; feeding myself nutritious foods, enjoying aromatic baths and giving myself facials.
Self-care is also to allow space each day for creativity and expression, to plan and scheme and think. In an organic nutshell, self-care is to be self-ish – to put yourself first and make the effort to be loving to yourself no matter what. And to look in the mirror and say ‘hey girl, you rock!”
Q – Was there a time when you did not take care of YOU and how did it affect your life & business?
My early twenties was a rough time for me, my lack of self-esteem meant I attracted the wrong crowd and I spent several years ‘dropping out’; drinking and partying. I was broke and deeply unhappy most of the time. Those were dark times and I could not of even begun to start a business back then. I literally believed I was worthless, talentless and destined for epic failure. Luckily a moment of clarity led me to apply to college and I scored a place on an art degree. Suddenly, I had a purpose in life and a reason to get out of bed, and it turned my life around. I dread to think what might have become of me had I not listened to that inner voice pushing me on to greater things.
Q – What are your top 3 Self-Care tips that women can incorporate into their lives?
Tip 1. Health is your wealth. This is my number one mantra. Think about it, no matter how rich or successful you become, you’d give it all up in a flash were you to become ill because all you would want is your health. We all desire to feel good, we’re hard-wired for pleasure and beauty. Build your body from the best edible materials you can and watch your entire life improve beyond measure.
Tip 2. Beauty is not vanity, take care of your physical beauty – it’s what shines your inner light out into the world. Look after your skin by nourishing it with the finest organic products, having regular holistic treatments and making healthy eating a priority.
Tip 3. Follow your dreams. It sounds cheesy I know but there is really only one way to cope with this crazy thing called life and that’s to do the things that make you feel amazing. You are a miracle of nature and you weren’t put here on this beautiful planet to be mediocre or to hide your light under a bushel (whatever the heck a bushel is). Be a phoenix, be the best YOU that you can ever be.
Q – What’s something (fun, silly, surprising) that we can learn about you?
Well, that’s a BIG list! I once lived in a naked tipi village in the mountains of Spain and I love to roller skate. My personal mantra is “I’m too old to grow up now” and I live by that creed as much as possible. Life should be an adventure! I prefer to accumulate experiences than things. I love to teach by being a shining example, you just never know who might be listening and watching and turning their life around because of you.
